Micropacking

Sometimes people ask me how I manage to travel for months with nothing but a small yellow backpack.

I thought I would give a rundown both so that I can remember myself and maybe so others can see that you don't need to pack half your goddam house when backpacking.

So here's my pack list for this trip(besides passport, money, etc..):

  • Yellow Kånken
  • Extra cloth bag for laundry/souvenirs
  • Camera with charger
  • Nook
  • iPhone + charger
  • Computer with charger & mouse
  • World power adapter
  • Diary
  • Towel + Washing rack
  • Vibram five-fingers shoes
  • 2 T-shirts
  • 2 Wifebeaters
  • Shirt
  • Rash vest
  • Shorts
  • Swimming trunks
  • 4 pairs of underwear
  • Socks for flippers
  • Mask & snorkel
  • Food container + Spork
  • Flashlight
  • Poncho
  • Bag of candy
  • Wash bag containing the following:
    • Toothbrush & Toothpaste
    • Burt's bees res-q ointment
    • Tigerbalm
    • Floss
    • Sewing kit
    • Bactroban ointment
    • Spray-on band-aid
    • Ibuprofen
    • Suction cup with hook
    • Lush solid shampoo + Tin
    • Scrub glove (because sometimes I feel dirty)
    • Hair brush
    • Razors + Shaving gel
That's about all I can think of, but that'll get me through just about anything while at the same time being nice enough to my back to not have it consider me an asshole.

And tomorrow: Bangkok

This is the plan

For the coming 2 months.

This Tuesday, I'm getting on a plane headed for Thailand.
Why Thailand?
Let me tell you why Thailand:

A couple of years ago I went to China. Hated it. I mean I hated it so much that when the bus stations refused to sell me bus tickets I went and bought a bicycle and biked it all the way down to Bangkok.

So this bicycle has a great deal of sentimental value to me, HOPEFULLY I can ship it home during my 5 days wandering around in that strange city.

Then on to dive shops!
I've got to stock up on the following:

  • Dive computer
  • Titanium knife
  • Pointy metal stick
  • Colorful underwater balloon
  • 360° Compass
Why you might ask?

Because come March 7th, I will be diving and app programming here:

Until May 1st.

I know you hate me.
It's okay.

My first app finished!!!

I'm gonna make MONEEEEY!

The road to geekdom

I'm reading this book on how to start making apps from scratch, which I personally thought would be either a load of bull or way too complex for me to understand.

Luckily it was neither, instead it's really basic and down to earth, explains code in ways that would make a retard have lightbulbs going off like Times Square in the 1920's and it's actually pretty funny.

I just finished chapter 3, the author told me if I finish the whole book I'd be a certified geek.

Inshallah.

OTISSSS

Closest I've ever gotten to making a real game: You know how every elevator in the whole world goes under the name OTIS? Well, OTIS is a game about this really pimped out black guy, who just happens to stumble upon the invention of the elevator. Gracing the world with this invention he also graces the world with the fact that he alone can control the elevators, making them lethal flying machines with which he can fight evil. And by evil, I mean of course Silvia who used to be our boss when we were serving coffee during the COP15 meeting of 2009. How I hated her. I hated her so much that I even made this game about killing her huge swiss, stressed out face flying around in the sky. In the finished game she tried to kiss OTIS all the time, so he has to close the elevator doors so that he can ram into her face which, if done enough times, will cause her head to explode.

Screw it.

Okay, so there are basically 100 zillion apps in the world. Every single one of them is made by some money-hungry little dweeb like me who is trying really hard to get rich and famous.

This is not a blog I made because I have some sort of magnificent idea of what I'm gonna do. I'm just very, very lazy. Also I've developed a love for making games as I travel.

So I thought I would remind myself of how much fun that can be and see where I end up.
